A Brief Guide to World Domination

One of my lifelong goals has been to dominate the world. Just kidding! But seriously...

You may be wondering exactly how I chose this topic for a blog post. Perhaps I'm feeling rather confident after our recent overzealous overseas trip (try saying THAT three times fast!). Maybe the jet lag has gone to my head. Or just maybe I'm recalling the days in elementary school when I seriously planned to become first woman President of the United States. (That's pretty darn close to world domination, right?)

Or maybe I stumbled across something incredibly wonderfully non-conformist as I was catching up on my blogs. :D

This evening I found myself reading the manifesto of one Chris Guillebeau, who penned said Guide to World Domination - and I just had to share it with you! He explores on the idea that you don't have to live your life the way other people expect you to. This is a HUGE reminder for me because I am a people pleaser, big time. I mean, it makes sense when you think about it - why should you succumb to the monotony that the masses preach? He includes some pretty incredible exercises in the short "report" which help you to identify exactly how to go about living your own life which may or may not include conquering the world. And although he doesn't mention God or faith, I think it definitely plays into the fact that our Creator has made us to do great and exciting things - if we will only take the risk.

These ideas have developed into a recently-released book called The Art of Non-Conformity, which I have already added to my Amazon wishlist. (hint hint)

Interesting Side Note: Chris is attempting to travel to every country in the world (according to his list, there are 198 total) by the time he turns 35. He documents many fascinating things on his journeys, which you can read about here.

So, dear readers, what will you be dominating? Here shortly, I will be staking my claim to the bed and hopefully beat my husband to it. ;D

Home Again, Home Again - Jiggity Jig

You know, it's funny the things that you miss when you're away from home. Things like your very own pillow, the shampoo you regularly use (instead of the kind that comes in travel size), the ability to read a menu or a street sign, knowing for sure when someone is talking to you (or when they aren't), and food whose ingredients you are actually familiar with. And of course, keeping up on my blog list!

Ten countries and 17 days later, we have finally returned home from our wonderful vacation! It was quite an amazing and exhausting trip, which I hope to share with you soon. (I do have over 2000 pictures to go through, after all!) Clay and I are so fortunate to share this trip to the other side of the world, but we sure are glad to be home. :D

Rich-Craft: Tag Blankies

Last week I made a trip to the Cabbage Rose - and managed to make it out without spending a fortune on irresistibly cute fabrics! So on Saturday afternoon, I was looking at my cute purchases and feeling rather crafty... and what better to cure the craft itch than making some adorable tag blankies?! (This is yet another genius project from Lotta Jansdotter's book Simple Sewing for Baby.)

The backside of these blankies is this amazingly soft fabric called "minky" - which I wish I would make all of my clothes out of. It is SO soft!

I made three of these cute little guys all in an afternoon's time! Now to find them a happy home... ;D

Sister Date!

This afternoon Rachel and I went on a "sister date"...

lunch at McAlester's Deli

pedicures

and catching the new movie Eat Pray Love.

We had such a good time chatting, admiring our pretty toes,
and wishing we were in Bali like Liz!
Thanks, Rach, for a fun time this afternoon. :D

I Dare You

In my search for the perfect read for our upcoming trip (so many choices!), one link led to another and I ended up on YouTube watching this video essay by author Kelly Corrigan.

[Watch it. Now.]

The truth of her words struck me between the eyeballs: How many times do I undermine my own talents and abilities because I am overly self-conscious? What would I be able to do if I threw caution to the wind, if I took my dreams seriously, if I wore leg warmers whenever I felt like it? I mean, really - who cares what other people think?

Take hold of your dreams today, bright readers! I dare you. :D

Weekly Wows!

It has been so stinkin’ hot the past few days. When Clay and I got into his car after yoga on Monday night at 9:00pm, the thermometer read 112 degrees! Let me just say I am not a fan of this heat wave.

Every Tuesday I go to lunch with some of my coworkers, and yesterday we went to Ellerbe Fine Foods. (We usually try to pick a place off the beaten path, but this week we decided to go to the other extreme. :D) I’ve been dying to try it ever since it opened last fall. Let me tell you, IT WAS AMAZING! I had the BBT sandwich from their lunch menu - crispy bacon between two juicy slices of fresh tomato with a creamy-yet-peppery dressing and basil leaves on thick hunks of brioche with a side of arugula. I seriously thought I had died and gone to heaven!

Then we had my very favorite salad for dinner last night: strawberry spinach salad with chicken.  Clay even got excited about it! I mean, how can you NOT love a big 'ole bowl of this?

It is super-simple, and you can find the recipe here. :D

Today I stopped at Target on my way home from work and overheard a little girl throwing the world's BIGGEST temper tantrum. She was screaming to get out of the shopping cart, trying to reason with her mother that somehow it was hurting her not to be running around the store knocking over displays. I could even hear her two sections over! Let's just say that cured any baby fever I may or may not have been having.

I can’t believe that exactly two weeks from today we will be on a plane to Greece! We have been planning this trip since January, and I am so ready for it to be here. (I even have a countdown on my desk at work. :D) Because our trip is getting so close, I am already beginning to pack (yes, I’m one of those). My goal is for us to get everything we’ll need for two and a half weeks into these:

A little ambitious, I know. But if Rick Steve’s can do it, so can we!

Hope you’ve had a wow-ser of a Wednesday! :D

I Scream For Ice Cream

Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month? Not that you need another excuse to eat ice cream...or do you?! :D

In honor of this momentous occasion (enjoying a big bowl of the creamy stuff is an occasion in and of itself), I have decided to share with you my very favorite recipe for the simplest, easiest, tastiest Oreo ice cream. My husband Clay wholeheartedly agrees. After all, he and the ice cream maker are like this:

Oreo Ice Cream

2 large eggs
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream (I die)
1 cup milk
1/2 package Oreo cookies, crumbled

After eating a few pieces, stick crumbled Oreos in the fridge. :D Meanwhile, whisk eggs together in a mixing bowl for about a minute until light and fluffy. Add the sugar a little at a time until dissolved, then continue whisking another minute. (Talk about an arm workout!) Pour in cream and milk, again whisking to blend. Pour into prepared ice cream maker and follow manufacturer's instructions. During the last two minutes of the cycle, add half to 3/4 of the crumbled Oreos. After transferring to a storage container (not that it will be there very long!), sprinkle remaining Oreos over the top. Yum.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Do you prefer homemade or store-bought? Please share the scoop on what you're scooping. :D

It's a Giveaway!

Not by me, but by the talented Ashley at Snowbird Design! (She did some amazingly cute invitations for Erin’s baby shower, which you can see here.)

She’s giving away a free print-yourself design, which you could use for snazzy shower invites, baby announcements, or maybe just a postcard to your friends to remind them how cool you are. :D

So head on over to Snowbird and get yourself entered!

How to Glue Things to Other Things

Have you ever wanted to glue two things together but just couldn't decide what type of adhesive to use? Well, my friends - fret no more! This to That is a site that allows you to search based on the materials you're using and gives you the perfect glue for the job. Brilliant!

Because people (like me!) have a need to glue things to other things. :D

Baby Shower

Yesterday some friends and I hosted a baby shower for my friend Erin and her baby girl due at the end of August. Here are a few snapshots of the fun... :D

Pretty friends. :D
Yummy petit fours from McKinley's Bakery!
Adorable sock bouquet - by Stephanie, of course!
Jared and Erin opening gifts...
...and more gifts!
Beautiful personalized board, hand-painted by my cousin-in-law Laura.
The baby's name spelled out in cute block letters by Stephanie and Lindsay.
A blessing jar to hold wishes from each person who attended the shower. What a great idea!
The lovely hostesses - and their little helper. :D

What fun to help the Halls welcome their new little one!

Oregon Trail

This past weekend I was able to go to my friend Jaci’s wedding in rural Oregon. I had never been to Oregon before – and it was beautiful! As our little puddle-jumper of a plane flew into the Medford Airport, I thought to myself, “Why in the world did Jaci ever come to Texas?!” (No offense, Texas. You are a pretty state in your own way.) And not only was the landscape beautiful, but the weather was too! I think the high on Sunday was 82 – with a low in the 50s. :D

Jaci got married at a quaint little lodge in Applegate, an area surrounded by lush hillsides and welcoming vineyards punctuated by glassy rivers and streams. We had a little time to squeeze in a wine tasting before putting up decorations…

If you’re ever in the Applegate area, the Longsword Vineyard offers a lovely complimentary tasting. (The sparkling Chardonnay is best.) The patio is adjacent to a landing zone, so we got to watch several paragliders launch from the mountains in the distance and eventually float their way to the field in front of us. So cool!

There was just enough time to hang the pom poms and lanterns (which have now been in three of the roommate’s weddings!) and set the rest of the décor before getting ready. And Erin of EE Photography was there to capture each exquisite detail! We even had some fun writing their names in sparklers after the send-off. :D I can’t wait to see how the pictures turn out.

Jaci’s wedding was absolutely wonderful. She was a beautiful bride and I’m glad I got to share in her special day! Many wishes for a happy honeymoon and a joyous life together.

Why I Don't Appreciate Membership Appreciation Day

When I came to work out yesterday, I was unpleasantly surprised by the swarm of people at the check-in desk. Yesterday, it turns out, was Member Appreciation Day - AND they advertised a free workout (which would probably explain why there was a gentleman in kickboxing class wearing jeans and Birkenstocks. I’m still amazed his shoes didn’t fly off during each set of roundhouse kicks.)

The gym I go to hosts such an Appreciation Day once a month. As of yet, I have not been able to figure out which day so as to avoid the gym at all costs. You see, Member Appreciation Day should be a good thing. But it’s not.

On Appreciation Day, the gym is always packed with vendors – local salons or banks, dentists or chiropractors, salesmen peddling those protein shakes and power bars, area businesses trying to drum up more traffic. The gym is laid out such that there is barely enough room for two people to pass in front of the cycling machines. So what happens when you add an 8-foot table and pushy salespeople? A traffic jam. Yuck.

On Appreciation Day, it seems as though everyone who hasn’t been using their membership decides to come back and workout – at the same time. This means the classes are more crowded, the machines are mostly full, and there’s a waiting line for the ellipticals! It’s not that I don’t like people, I promise. It’s just that when you’re all sweaty (and probably smelly) and everyone else is too, the last thing you want to be is up close and personal with anyone around you. Besides, I like myself some generous personal space.

The bottom line is that I don’t feel appreciated on Member Appreciation Day. Give me a free bottle of water. Start offering towel service. Continue to keep the gym clean and well-maintained. Hire instructors that actually show up on time for class. Offer me a free month of membership. These are the types of things that will keep me coming back. Pack the gym with pushy salespeople and newbies who hog the machines? You might as well push me out the door.

The Missing Piece

Don't you just hate it when your [insert critical mechanism] of your [insert favorite kitchen appliance] breaks?! I know I do.

It wasn't until recently that I needed to purchase 1.) a replacement lid for our Cuisinart SmartStick Blender (apparently you can't fit 2 cups of frozen fruit inside and hope the blade will turn), and 2.) a replacement cup for our KitchenAid Mini Pulse Grinder (too many batches of Oreo balls, I guess!). I moped around the house for a while, fondly remembering the good 'ole days and dreading the smoothie- and Oreo ball-less months that stretched out ahead. Blech.

But then I remembered the existence of a website called CulinaryParts.com! (This is probably the most important thing I learned while working at Williams-Sonoma.) They sell replacement parts for dozens of kitchen appliances - which meant that my dejected little appliances had a second chance!

The site is super-easy to navigate. Once you click on the "Parts & Accessories" link at the top of the page, you'll see a list of all the brands they carry - KitchenAid, Breville, Krups, and the like. You simply click on the manufacturer name, then by the type of appliance, and finally by the item number (most of the time this is written somewhere on the actual machine). A little less than a week later, my SmartStick Blender and Pulse Grinder are back in business!

With shipping and everything, it was about $30 for my two parts. My husband pointed out that I could have purchased an entire new Pulse Grinder for this price, and I won't disagree that it was a little more than I wanted to spend. I just feel wierd about throwing out an appliance that is 95% functional, especially when it can be fixed, okay? Besides, I think for more expensive appliances, like food processors or bread makers or espresso machines (none of which I own), the cost of a replacement part is probably justified.

Now if only they could create a website to buy replacements for those pesky missing puzzle pieces...

You'll Never Guess...

...what Clay went out and bought last Saturday!

Here's a hint:

This little red Honda scooter is all ours! We even got matching white helmets. :D

Clay was so excited to drive it home (and I was so terrified) and even more excited to show it off to his family and friends. Needless to say, we will be getting LOTS of practice on this thing before our trip!

Weekly Wows!

This past weekend my in-laws were in town, so I decided to make cinnamon rolls from the Pioneer Woman Cookbook for Saturday breakfast. Who knew the recipe made 50 rolls?!?! (I guess I would have if I’d read the recipe more closely. :D) All that butter and sugar – and especially that smacking good maple icing – make these tasty morning treats ones that won’t last long! They also freeze well, which will be great for the next time I’m fixing breakfast for a crowd.

I LOVE bottled Starbucks Frapuccino drinks. Every day started with a Frapuccino is a good day – until I think about the 190 calories it contains. :( Luckily I discovered Frapuccino Light, which only has 100 calories per bottle!

As I was perusing the ads in the Sunday paper (like I do), I ran across this ridiculous ad for Huggies Diapers.

I mean, seriously – jeans-patterned diapers? What will they think of next?!

This weekend I (finally) had a little time to work on some of my craft projects, namely the Snappy Tees (or onesies in this case). Here's a sneak peek at what I accomplished:

I even came up with some of my own patterns, which you’ll just have to wait to see. ;)

Less than two months until our vacation! (In case you can’t tell, I cannot wait for it to get here.)

Hope you’re having a wow-ser of a week! :D

The Winds of Change Are A-Blowin'

Ladies and gentlemen, I am happy to announce that my blog will be getting a facelift! (I know - finally, right?)

Kelly of Fabulous K Creative will be adding a little fun and flair to the Lifestyles of the Riches...when she gets to me in September. :(  Currently she is working to re-launch her website in July, so she's got a lot of work to do. And even though I paid my deposit yesterday, she is in such demand that her waiting list is THAT LONG. Sheesh.

All I know is that it will be worth the wait! :D

Somebody Has a Birthday!

Today marks the 27th year of life for my dear, sweet husband Clay. And let me tell you, I am SO glad he was born!
This man has made my life so much more fun – and definitely more interesting. I love sharing funny stories with him at the end of my day, making special meals that I know he will enjoy, and experiencing new things with him (like laughter yoga or those dance lessons he signed us up for!). He encourages me to be a better person each and every day, and he uses his talents to bless others…

from his bus driving skills

to his softball skills

to his mad kayaking skills

to his strike-a-silly-pose skills

to his handyman skills.
I am SO lucky that God brought us together. He is truly a blessing to me!

Happy birthday, Clay. I love you!

CAT-astrophe

The above picture is a fairly accurate representation of our backyard on any given day. Seriously.

While we do not have a cast of adults dressed in skin-tight cat costumes (which would be equally alarming), we do have an insane number of felines who have taken up residence in the vicinity of ours. And it has finally come to the point where we can share the space no longer.

A little background:
Our next-door neighbors have been feeding the resident stray cats ever since we have moved into our house almost four years ago. The number has grown from three to almost twelve, maybe more (though it is awfully hard to count)! The lady next door swears that the woman who lives behind her takes the cats to be spayed or neutered, but the week after she told us that we noticed a new litter of kittens.

I frequently come home to find five - and sometimes more - cats having a little shin-dig in our driveway, maybe lounging under bushes or on the front porch, or draped over trees in our yard.

These furry little fiends friends leave their lovely-smelling excrement in the flower bed - just so I have a little reminder of their presence whenever I step outside to get the mail, I'm sure.

They leave little cat prints on my freshly-washed car.

We are frequently awoken by their "wild parties" outside our bedroom window at 3:00am. Or 10:00am. Or 2:00pm. Really, whenever.

We have tried many passive-agressive methods to at least keep these felines off our property. The Shake-Away Repellant was just a gimmick. Moth balls only made everything smell like moth balls. (We had many a guest ask us why it smelled like a coat closet on our front porch.) The lavender was a total joke, and the chicken wire only worked until the cats figured out how to get around it. We have even been so desperate as to price the cat repellant noisemakers, but figured the results would be just as disappointing.

In a moment of desperation, we rented traps from Animal Control to catch the little critters. Unfortunately, one of our neighbors saw the trap with food and asked if we were poisoning their cats. Their cats? You mean the ones without tags that look sickly and thin because they don't have a proper home? Oh, those cats. Needless to say, we didn't like being accused of such cruelty and quickly put away the traps.

My husband and I love animals, we really do. Promise. But this situation is bringing out the worst in both of us...

I was at home one morning when I heard the cats going at it just outside of our guest room window. With my patience running low, I stormed into the room with plans to startle the little noisemakers on the other side. Apparently I used a little too much gusto when knocking on the window...and ended up punching through the glass all the way to the screen. Luckily I was not injured.

Clay has gotten to where he makes a mad dash for the hose whenever he sees the cats lounging in our yard. (Do you think they would obey "No Loitering" signs?) He turns the nozzle to "stream" and goes after anything furry within range.

Both of us stomp and/ or throw things when we see the cats anywhere close. We have done this so often that the cats will run the other way when they see us coming!

And I hesitate to admit it, but I often speed up in the driveway if I see a cat laying there. I have seen Clay do this too.

See what I mean? This whole cat thing really makes us look like uncaring and heartless individuals - which we are NOT. We are trying to do the humane thing, really we are. Clay and I want these cats to have loving homes where they can be given monogrammed kitty beds, bathed in liberal amounts of flea-killer and nibble Fancy Feast out of crystal goblets.

This cat-astrophe has brought us to our wits' end! We just don't know what to do anymore...

Restaurant Review: Twisted Root

Several weeks ago, I had made plans to go out to dinner with my sister. As we were discussing details, she suggested that we go to Twisted Root Burger in Roanoke. Roanoke? I thought. What kind of hamburger could possibly be good enough that I would drive all the way to Roanoke for it?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have discovered just what that hamburger tastes like - and it tastes good!

For those of you not acquainted with Twisted Root (originally, of Deep Ellum fame), it is the brain-child of a couple of businessmen-turned-chefs in search of a quality hamburger. Their restaurants - well, the Roanoke location, at least - are rustic in decor with a generous seasoning of flair. Here you can see a sign near the entrance to the restaurant:

(It should read, "Get your buns in here" but the camera on my iPhone cut it off. Totally not user error. :D)

And when it comes time to order, the menu is full of mouthwatering choices! All of the hamburgers are made with a half pound of beef (or venison or buffalo or boar - you know, just to keep things interesting), so you definitely need to bring your appetite - or a friend to share it with!

Each customer gets a "name tag" in lieu of an order number, and when your food is ready they call the name on your tag. We were Danny Zuko. Other patrons this evening included Jessica Simpson, Stretch Armstrong, and Eva Longoria. It was so funny to hear them calling out these celebrity names. :D

I ordered the Western Burger, which came topped with pepper jack cheese, onion strings and jalapenos. Yum!

They also make some darn tasty curly fries (think Arby's-style but better!) and a pretty mean sweet potato chip.

Another little treat is that they brew their own root beer, which my sister said is "just like crack." (My words, not hers.)

Today's flavor was butterscotch. I couldn't really tell that it tasted much different from regular root beer, but it was definitely good! They also had watermelon iced tea, which I sampled and am definitely hunting up a recipe for. :D

Both my sister and I were unable to finish our hamburgers, but Clay worked hard in the yard today and decided he needed to reward himself with an Oreo milkshake.

(Notice how he strategically places his hand so as to guard it just in case. :D)

I would definitely recommend Twisted Root if you're in the Roanoke or Dallas area. Or even if you're in the mood for a drive! You will not be disappointed. :)

Motorcycle Man

Here's my sunburned motorcycle man...

Sporting the patch from his motorcycle class - and a lovely shade of sunburn! He even had red stripes of sunburn across his wrists where his riding gloves and long sleeve shirt didn't quite meet. :D

Clay spent all day Saturday and most of Sunday at a Basic Rider Course in North Richland Hills. He wanted to be a licensed motorcyclist so that when we go to Greece this summer, we can rent a Vespa like this:

I think we'll definitely have to practice - I for sure can't keep my hair like that when we're whipping around Santorini on our little motorscooter. And with that grip on her driver, I'm not sure how that lady hasn't fallen off the back!

You never know - after all that practice, we might get so good we want to buy one of these things! :D

So I Was Thinking...

I found these little tidbits on a friend-of-a-friend's blog and couldn't stop laughing! Hope these help you start your Friday with a smile. :D

I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

Nothing is worse than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

How are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

Was learning cursive really necessary?

MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

Bad decisions make good stories.

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection....again.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this -- ever.

I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? ) but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day, " Dad, what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How do I respond to that?

I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

Do you have any thoughts to add to this list? I'd love to hear what you're wondering!

Weekly Wows!

Skinny Cow Mint Cones are my new favorite dessert. The creamy mint ice cream is studded with pockets of rich fudge, and the inside of the waffle cone is lined with chocolate too! These little treats are so decadent you don't even miss the fat. :D

I got a tetanus shot on Monday. I went to the doctor for a routine check-up and discovered a tetanus shot was overdue. Unfortunately the nurse forgot to mention all the soreness I would experience because I let her give me the shot in my right arm! Then I proceeded to experience the gamut of symptoms - weakness, fatigue, headaches, muscle pain. Man, it was terrible! Let's just say any ungratefulness for my right arm has now been cured.

People are weird. I mean, I was aware of this fact (hey - I'm a weirdo), but my experience on Saturday took "wierd" to a whole new level. My husband and I were just leaving the grocery store with the goods for our Memorial Day cookout when we noticed a young lady in the produce section. Apparently she thought a swimsuit and her beach towel were appropriate grocery shopping attire. And if that weren't enough, she proceeded to open her towel and resecure it around her! Yikes!

I became an aunt (or "Auntie J" as I will be called)! My husband's twin brother and his wife welcomed their first, a baby boy, into the world this past Friday. Our weekend was full of family and fun, all to celebrate this new little bundle of joy! Here they are being welcomed home by the "paparrazi" (aka the family):

I have also discovered the Hipstamatic application for my iPhone, which I used to take the above picture. Isn't is so fun and vintage-y feeling? I just love it - and I think there are even more styles of film to add!

I have finally finished reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand - all 725 pages of it! I have read a lot of books in my life, but this one is by far the longest and most mind-bending book I have read. Not so sure it qualifies as a "summer read" though I would definitely recommend it when you're feeling a little more intellectual.

Tomorrow is the first day of June. Where has this year gone?!!!

Now, tell me what's wowing you. :D

22 May 2010

Number Four

My dear, sweet husband and I celebrated our 4th anniversary this weekend. We alternate who plans the anniversary festivities, and this year it was my turn to spoil Clay. I mean, he doesn't get to have all the fun. ;)

He requested a nice dinner at home rather than going out to eat (can't fault him for loving my cooking!). I made pasta and meatballs, tossed salad, and homemade breadsticks for dinner on Friday night. After clearing the dishes, we headed over to get our 1 1/2-hour massages. 1 1/2 hours, people! Absolute heaven.

I decided to extend the celebration into Saturday (why not?!). We began with cinnamon rolls and the Saturday paper, two of Clay's favorite things.

Then we headed over to the newly remodeled Museum of Science and History. The two of us felt like little kids looking at all of the neat exhibits!

After that, a quick picnic lunch - and a Jones Soda toast (just like our wedding day toast!). Then we went to see Van Gogh: Brush with Genius at the IMAX Theater. What a HUGE screen!

It is hard to believe that four years ago we were standing under a sunset sky at Erinshire Gardens, hands clasped and hearts beating as we said our "I dos." The time since then has certainly flown past, but each day I love my husband more and more. God has truly blessed me with an amazing man who teaches me so much and who constantly makes me laugh.

I cannot imagine anyone else I would rather have my adventures with than you, Clay. I love you!
